After a few days, a week and sometimes two weeks, which is a rarity, somehow the smell of freshly shampooed hair, the slightly charred smell of flat irons and the sound of a bustling blow dryer brings on a sense of relaxation and peace. Although the ladies are talking, sharing topics of All sorts, laughing and sometimes being very theatrical, there is a sense of love and a spirit of service. No matter how bad the day has been, if you’ve been led to the best “hair haven” for you, it really does something to soothe the mind. This doesn’t work for everyone, as you have to have reached a place of inner peace in which outer distractions don’t test the patience of a woman’s momentary, temporary breathing space.
As we seek the best place to shop, the best dry cleaners, the best places to eat, the best place to get a car wash, etc, just remember that a woman’s hair is her strength. A new or fresh “do” makes us feel fabulous! The symbolism of getting your hair shampooed can be a direct parallel to getting your soul cleansed. It takes patience, it takes getting in your own place of solitude in the midst of the hustle bustle.
Everyplace is a divine destination space to seek God. Your cosmetologist is a minister of beauty. Love her/him and pray their strength in the Lord. Pray for their prosperity as taking care of us so lovingly, despite cancellations, standing hours on their feet, and smiling through the multitude of personalities and temperament of clients, is a testament of sacrifice to ensure a livelihood for them and their families.
