Intro: Marriage is not an easy road to travel, no matter when you marry, who you marry, or where the ceremony takes place. No amount of time, energy, and money spent on a fabulous nuptials event can guarantee a successful and solid marriage, or better yet, a Godly one! No matter the backdrop, Satan attacks as soon as possible after the "I do." He is relentless in inflicting bruises---we know that for sure! Why? As my husband says, "Satan hates the institution of marriage"---and is on the hunt to maliciously destroy what God intended to be a commitment, based on His love. It is, no doubt, spiritual warfare...
As we continue to navigate this path, learning more about each other almost every day, and reminding ourselves to keep God at the center, my husband shared this powerful prayer with me. I'm sure it will bless you (as it did me), so please soak in his heartfelt message to The Father, and share it with someone who would appreciate the power of prayer in staying "true" to the "I do." For me, in using my parent's marriage as an example, our marriage should be a ministry. The way we approach it matters---the bumps and the bruises, as well as the bountiful blossoms and the bonuses. It's not a perfect thing, but a "sho nuff" prayerful thing! Stay encouraged. Stay in prayer.

PgSj's Prayer (to be prayed together):
Lord, I'm so grateful for You loving us, and for the first institution. The institution of marriage is to be an illustration of Your love for us here on earth. Help us, Lord, to love our spouse (call them by name) the way You illustrate how to love one another. Open our ears so that we may listen and respect one another. Humbling ourselves and putting (spouse's name) before myself. Cover us and our child(ren)/grands (call their name(s)) physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Lord, build unity between us, make us stronger as a couple, more devoted to one another and You. Lord, build us up to illustrate what a godly marriage should look like. Utilize us together to do more than we could ever do apart. We pray for greater influence and more impact on couples around us. Let us be a light to couples around us and walk in intimacy. Lord, work through us in the lives of our friends, families, enemies, and even those far away. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and move through us to bring those far from You to You. Lord, reach out to the lost couples who have not encountered your presence in their marriage and give them a purpose.Ā We choose, as a couple, to love You first. We put our relationship with You before anything and everything else. We confess our need for You to be the foundation of our marriage. Thank You for drawing us together. We choose to love one another today and every day. We ask You to bless our marriage, build it, and be present in it always. In Jesusā Name, I pray. Amen, Amen, and Amen.

Thanks to the man who boldly speaks of his imperfections, who married an imperfect woman, but is 100% "A Man Who Prays!" Love you, man. ā¤ļø
