What will people recall of you when you have traveled on? What will the memories of you be when you are dead and gone? What will they say about you? What will their reflections be? What will you want the world to know? What is your legacy? Will they recall the words you said that left them bruised and battered? Will they remember the way they felt when your speech made them feel shattered? Will they recall the time you trampled their heart beneath your feet, Or how your anger pierced their soul with the fire of depressing heat? What will they say about you? What will their memories be? What do you want the world to know? What is your legacy? Will they recall encouragement for their craziest ideas, Or your kindness when they suffered pain, how it helped to dry their tears? Will they remember how you cared for one who lost their way, Or listen to their problems on a rough and stressful day? What will they say about you? What will their memories be? What do you want the world to know? What is your legacy? Has kindness been your constant guide, to help you form your words, Or do they fly out of your mouth like a nest of squawking birds? Did you go by and check on one, who was sick and on the mend, Or was a lost and lonely soul able to call you friend? What will they say about you? What will their memories be? What do you want the world to know? What is your legacy? What will be said at your passing? What memories will they share? Will they sing praises to a life well lived, a heart who truly cared? Will they hate to know that you are gone, just wishing for another day. How will people recall your life when you have gone away? What will they say about you? What will their memories be? What do you want the world to know? What is your legacy? ~Arneda Taylor-Harper 10/3/2020
