(Yesterday's post)
Having breakfast this morning, I noticed a small chip in my cereal bowl. On this particular morning, it doesn't hold the go-to bowl of Raisin Bran, but instead, a halved good ole sweet pink grapefruit. Normally, there's not much attention to the bowl, but maybe the grapefruit was a catalyst for a message on this Spring Sunday morning...
In that, I noticed or shall I say, paid more attention to the small chip in the rim of the green bowl. I thought, Hmmm... maybe it's time to purchase a replacement set. I also thought about how I really like these green stoneware bowls and had a visual of throwing all four of them away. 😩 But then, I thought, Wow, we, similarly, have chips, too . We have figurative cracks in our mind, soul, heart, and spirit at times. It may start as just a small chip, but morphs into a bigger chip, a crack, or worse, breakage. And even when/if it does, thank God that He doesn't discard us! He can still use us---chips, cracks, breaks, and all. I am thanking Him for that a little more this morning---all because that chipped bowl served as a reminder...
God, thank You for your signs and wonders, big and small. Thank YOU for loving us unconditionally. Thank You for caring about us so much that YOU extend grace, mercy, and favor to your always flawed and imperfect children. We are grateful! Help us to mend and better manage the many chips, the cracks, and the breaks---the brokenness and the bruises that we encounter and carry. For your word says in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds". I am keeping this bowl right now, while being watchful of that chip. I will continue using it and please, continue to use me; continue to use us-- to carry out the purpose that You have for our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Peace & Blessings,
