If Heaven Has Sections ~ The Life, Love, Light, and Legacy of "Bill"🕊💜

Intro: While the person I fondly and jokingly referred to as Shaft was slowly transitioning, my heart was in a bit-by-bit crawling crumble. He was my forever brother-in-love, but our bond was sealed even tighter, more like siblings -- an older brother and younger sister. Having been a part of the family for so many years, our relationship was "cemented" with pure love and respect. In the heart-wrenching transitional wait, my words seemed "hosed," even though my spirit was leading me to write. Finally, the words (and the tears) flowed. I shared the resulting "piece" with his beloved daughters---my two beautiful and deeply grieved nieces. They have allowed me to publish this eclectic collective of thoughts and memories with you. Yes, a tribute to a true "measure of a good man." His name? Bill. He will forever live as light and love-- in the hearts of the entire family and all who knew him. 💜

The spiritual nudge: A few years ago, a dear friend shared a mutual friend's light-hearted theory--- the possibility of sections in Heaven. So, my heart met words here:

Are there sections in Heaven? What will it truly be?

If we’ve given our life to Christ, we'll just wait and see

Will there be classified areas, like VIP sections for some we love?

Special folk like our Bill, who will soon be our angel watching from above

If there are truly sections, let's just roll with it for a minute or more

For this one is where Bill will certainly reside for sure…

There’s a man who loves God, Jesus, our Lord and Savior, most of all

But for his dedicated Beulah, the girls, and grands, he answered the unconditional love call

And, wow, the way he adores Nikki and Vershenia is something for the world to see

Often makes me think of how my daddy loved and provided for my sister and me

A dedicated Trustee Board Chairman, who consistently served with all his heart and soul

Who took care of the church--- the standing edifice and the Aulander First Baptist of old

A harder worker, who provided for his family in every thinkable way

Bill / Daddy / Granddaddy, I need you …, is all they had to say

A proud veteran but Commercial Ready Mix was his longtime career

Taking management and cement pouring to next level year after year

Yes, Bill will be in the section that represents the epitome of toughness and cool

That handsome man with swagger, intellect, big faith, and a beast with a tool

His smile and mere presence made you feel at peace, safe, and strong

He was dependable, committed, joyful, humorous, and loving—his whole life long

You see, a person like our Bill is so powerful, brave, and rare

That's why this loss will be especially tender and so hard to bear

But we know He will peacefully travel to God's Heavenly place

After fighting courageously to win Dementia’s progressive race

As we wait patiently, we are so grateful that God blessed us with his life

We will manage, although the pain will cut deeper than a sharp-edged knife

It really doesn't matter if there’s an actual section where he lands for eternal rest

We are thankful for his profound love, and we know that God loves him best

So, we prepare to say, Rest easy, Bill, Daddy, PaPa, G-Pop, Brother Bill, Cousin Bill, Uncle Bill, and Whitney's dear Shaft

You will be absent from us physically, but the mark you left on our hearts will forever last, and last, and last.
